If you are planning to become a phlebotomist, you will have to be sure you are attending a great phlebotomist training program. You should also know how these programs are structured, so that you get to know what topics you should follow.

At first, you will have to learn what phlebotomy means for pathology. There is some standard practice and codes for this and you will have to study them also. Next, you will go trough some aspects of blood taking, tubes, and other depositing techniques. Labeling is also important, as mixing up blood samples could bring up a lot of problems.

The second part of phlebotomist training is anatomy and health aspects. You should know appropriate sites for venipuncture, and some psychology for dealing with some difficult patients. After you will complete your training, ask for a phlebotomist certificate that will allow you to work without supervision in any hospital. However, this is not all, as you might find it useful to complete your training with some cabinet experience. Find a doctor that agrees to teach you and work for him even for free if required. You should see the benefits later, as this kind of experience is appreciated and look good on your CV.
